It provides a basic overview of terminology for those pursuing Careers in the Allied Health field. Covers the body system i.e. Skeletal System, Muscular System, Nervous, Endocrine, Digestive, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Urinary, Reproductive, Immune systems as well as multitude of Medical terms addressing test, diseases and diagnoses.

Audience: The target audience for the Introduction to Medical Terminology course includes incumbent health care workers who need a refresher course on medical terminology.

Contact Hours: 32 non-credit hours

Certification: Please note that this course does not lead to a student’s certification, but prepares the student to sit for the certification exam.

Course Objectives:

      • Explain the importance of medical terminology when documenting and communicating patient information
      • Build medical terminology related to body structures, functions and disorders
      • Describe the organization and structure of the human body
